All discussions center on helps for the spiritual journey. They are educational in orientation. We are non-profit, inter-faith, and nondenominational. We are self-supporting through voluntary donations.
Weekly Support Group meets from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Sundays, at the home of Paschal Baute, in the conference room, 6200 Winchester Road, Lexington. (From Lexington, turn right onto Lofgren Road, at mile marker #19, nine miles from New Circle Road, first residence on the left.) This is an open group.
In the Support Group, we come together as friends on our journeys, no one above or more adept than another. Meeting is opened with shared silence ending in the Serenity prayer. We share our strengths and our weaknesses, our inner work, and our daily lives. We support each other with understanding and compassion, each of us both teacher and learner, learning from the greater wisdom of the group.
Meeting for worship is held on the first Sunday of each month following the Support Group, at 6:30 p.m., at Paschal's. This usually takes the form of a brief Eucharistic celebration, or a prayer service, with leadership rotating voluntarily among the members. One may attend either the Support Group or Worship, or both.
Days of Recollection are workshops held eight times per year on the third Saturday of the month (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) around various themes, as announced in the newsletter. Each includes meditation, small group discussion, and journaling.
Quarterly Retreats are held in March, June, September, and December, beginning Friday evening until Sunday noon. We meet at Knobs Haven Retreat house, on the campus of the Sisters of Loretto Motherhouse, Nerinx, near Springfield, KY (a one and a half hour drive from Lexington). We pay only for room and board ($45 for two nights lodging and six meals). Dates and topics are announced in the newsletter.
The Planning Committee usually meets the last Sunday of the month, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. These meetings are held in Paschal's conference room and are open (to anyone interested). (Write to Ann Siudmak to confirm time.)
The monthly SGN newsletter is one of our main ways of communicating. It provides:
