Forgiveness Chit
|
As a way to encourage facing anger, the poison of holding grudges, learning to manage conflict and the power of forgiveness and love, some of us developed this little chit for use among jail and prison inmates.
Inmates must live with each other 24 hours a day, seven days each week, under trying conditions, when they often have not managed to get along well with others previously. This is an enormous challenge.
We have a residential unit at the Fayette County jail that our SGN volunteers have now been working with for nearly a year, teaching these skills and tools of the Wisdom traditions, via many methods, meditation, parable, poetry, prayer, bible study, story, writing, awareness and videotape. We teach the basic principles of all Wisdom traditions, and tolerance and understanding for those who believe differently.
In our program we teach that jail or prison is a “Fierce Landscape,” in which one either dies spiritually or grows. For more information about the Spiritual Growth Network of Kentucky, see lexpages.com/SGN

The WWF Forgiveness Chit was developed to encourage growth skills in a jail or prison setting in a residential community. Copies were provided each inmate for their use. This helped make their getting along fun.
We have also found the use of these chits to be loving and humorous among families and spouses.
